Great place to visit all year round. Very easy kid and elderly friendly paths to the two main falls. You can both hike and drive down to the lakefront.
Winter hiking is a little harder with ice covering a lot of things so it’s not as kid or elderly friendly but extremely beautiful and worth going out in the cold.
Go here while you are traveling on HWY 61! Free parking and restrooms, a visitor center, and a gift shop (only open during the day). This state park will fill you with happiness with your 5 senses. There are many trails along this state park for you to walk and the best of all is the waterfall! The waterfall goes down twice so it means for you to double the fun! This is a must for you to stop by here!
Gorgeous State Park located on Minnesota's north shore. Well worth the drive from anywhere in the state (or Western WI) to come see. Miles upon miles of hiking trails all with amazing views.
The park is breathtakingly beautiful and worth spending a good chunk of time at. Bring the camera or some food for a picnic and you're set for a fun day full of hiking and taking in the scenery.
The trails and everything seemed clean. I didn't see trash anywhere. It was tough to get pictures of the waterfalls since people were in it all the time. You still get to go see a few different levels of the waterfalls though. You could definitely bring a swimsuit and swim around (although a sign suggests not to, a lot of people do it). The trails provide great views especially if you hike up the hills.
Would love to camp here some night and hike all day, but not very outdoorsy myself. Cannot wait to come here again next year.
If you have kids, rock throwing at the lakefront is a must. There’s plenty of picnic spots while you’re down there.
Have seen people climb up cliffs here, probably pretty dangerous for them to do but pretty cool to watch.
One of the most iconic destinations along the Minnesota North Shore. If you're in the area for Split Rock Lighthouse, you're not too far from Gooseberry Falls. The falls are fun to stop by at all times of the year. You'll be able to get closer to the falls during the Summer.
